Phases of the Moon

The child turns the Moon around the Earth and watches through a built-in eyepiece how the view from the Earth's surface changes. They work out for themselves why the Moon looks different every night.
Pythagoras' theorem

Children solve a puzzle with three squares and prove by hand that the two smaller ones add up to the largest. The formula then simply anchors what they've already felt.
Gear train

Six cogs on five axles, with animals racing around their rims to see which gets round first. Long before a child can name the gear ratio, they have it in their hands.

What we build Koumio® boards from
A Koumio® board hangs in a public space with nobody watching it. We build it accordingly.
Beech plywood and steel. No plastic, no parts that snap off on the first pull.
Mounted against removal and theft. A Koumio® board hangs like a picture and is held by locking screws.
Built for hundreds of children a day. We test the mechanisms against the traffic an ordinary school produces every single break.
Made in the Czech Republic. We build and finish them ourselves, so we know exactly what's inside.
As easy to install as a picture
You hang a Koumio® board on the wall as easily as a picture. No building work, no cabling, no touching the wiring — a bit of free wall is enough.
